The most common types of pool chemicals are:

  • Chlorine is the most common type of disinfectant for pools. Chlorine is effective against bacteria, algae, and other microorganisms. Chlorine comes in various forms, such as liquid chlorine, tablet chlorine, and granular chlorine.
  • Bromine is another effective option for pools. Bromine is similar to chlorine but is less irritating to skin and eyes. Bromine is available in liquid form.
  • Ozone is an effective disinfection method that does not produce any by-products. However, ozone is more expensive than chlorine and bromine.

In addition to disinfectants, other chemicals are also used to keep pool water clean and fresh. These chemicals include, among others:

  • Alkalinity regulators help maintain the pH level of the pool water at the correct level. The pH should be between 7.2 and 7.8.
  • Flocculants help remove small particles from the pool water.
  • Algaecides help prevent algae growth in the pool.
  • Colorants can be used to give the pool water a certain color.

It is important to follow the instructions on the chemicals carefully. This is to ensure that the pool water is safe for swimming.
